6.2.07 It’s in the jeansAn excellent entry appears at Summer Rayne’s blog today, on labour abuses in Red China and the film China Blue, about teenage girls having to work up to 20 hours a day in a sweatshop. I have blogged about such issues before, not necessarily relating to my own people. In any case, we should be aware of what has gone in to those cheap jeans that we picked up at some discount outlet. It doesn't surprise me to hear about such abuses. In a country where the regime cares so little about human life or respect for the individual, it would be surprising if they DIDN'T have such abuses. That said, it is sad that it happens. I don't envy anyone that has to live in China where Big Brother really does exist. The only place that I can think of that would be worse is North Korea.
