Gerald Ford, RIP

I haven’t blogged for a month for a variety of reasons, which I may write about when I get some time, but the passing today of former president is enough to break my silence. The stories of President Ford bringing Secret Service guards cups of coffee always had a impact on me. I had always understood that to run an well, you need this two-way appreciation. Interestingly, today, Alexander Haig said this was one of the things that stuck out with Gerald Ford when thinking back on the seven presidents he had served. My thoughts go out to Mrs Betty Ford and the family of the 38th president.

I've been wondering where you were. I check your blog regularly and was wondering why you'd stopped posting. I'm glad to see you're still among the living and hope you're doing well. Hopefully, you'll start posting regularly as I enjoy reading your posts. Happy holidays to you! Ron
Thanks for the post. I say thanks because I am a regular reader and all I ever blog about is China and I wanted to say something about Gerald Ford, but ended up not. I grew up 45 minutes from Grand Rapids and the thing I remember about Ford most (and often heard from those who knew him) was what a decent person he was. Saw a column today (I think it was George Will, but I'm not sure) saying that Ford was a normal human being when that's exactly what the country needed. He was a solid man and a solid President and I would happily trade just about every president since him for someone like him.
Happy New Year..........
It’s nice to be missed: I hope you had a nice Christmas, Ron. Chinalawblog, thank you for your kind comments and I am delighted to hear from you and I am glad that my words struck a chord, I will pop by your blog shortly. 莫維平, happy New Year to you, too, though I think we’ll celebrate the one on Feb. 18!

Entries from 2006 to the end of 2009 were done on the Blogger service. As of January 1, 2010, this blog has shifted to a Wordpress installation, with the latest posts here.
With Blogger ceasing to support FTP publishing on May 1, I have decided to turn these older pages in to an archive, so you will no longer be able to enter comments. However, you can comment on entries posted after January 1, 2010.
