29.4.06 The first Bloggers Quit Smoking Day If it weren’t for coComment and blogs, this might never have happened. June 13 is the first Bloggers’ Quit Smoking Day.Two friends of mine, K in Hong Kong and C. Trinity in Antwerpen, are smokers who have toyed with the idea of quitting. But how? C. has a boyfriend who smokes. K has been ambivalent about it. Solution: after encountering each other via coComment and via blogs, they have come together to decide that June 13 is the day they’ll stop. OK, I might have had a little to do with it, but it wouldn’t have worked without their saying yes. You can see how this all came about, in the comments of a post K made. If other smokers want to join in, regardless of where they are, they should pop by to K’s blog, K, Speaking!, and you can all do it together, globally. Maybe enter a comment and support them? Jack, our lives is about to become really interesting.
Thanks for backing us up and for spreading the word. You're pimp!
I left a comment for the same post at trinity. I will have to give myself a week to decide. This is a GREAT idea. So once decided, I may have to list down a few important things, like a short guidelines on how to really STOP the urges to smoke.
Thanks, Jack.
Thanks, C. and K! C., I haven’t left a message on your blog yet but when I can, I will! K, I quite understand: it’s important to psyche yourself up and get more info. We’ll be there when you go for it!
Jack, I love the "positive improv" of this posting and initiative! It is like you, K and Ctrinity are building on the "yes...and" of improv play to produce a positive outcome for each other and lots of others that might wish to join in.
Thanks, Michael! It was one of those “this would never have happened without dialogue” things—you are absolutely right, something positive that arose through improv. I am still amazed at the greater implications of this, and to be in the centre of it.
And to think, if we can do this, what else we can achieve. A month ago, we did not know one another. Now we are doing something to improve our lives.
Looks like I missed the first official day for bloggers to stop smoking... What a great Idea for a support system.
